Handcrafted iPhone 17 Pro Max Cases from Keyway
We make every iPhone 17 Pro Max case by hand at our workshop in Mississauga, Ontario. Each one starts with a flexible TPU shell fitted specifically for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, then gets a handcrafted backer in your choice of real wood, full-grain leather, cotton canvas, cork, or wood and resin. No two cases look exactly the same because every piece of wood has its own grain pattern and every leather hide takes on its own character.
We have been building phone cases this way since 2012, backed by more than 6,900 reviews with a 4.8-star average, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max shell is the newest generation of that work: slim, MagSafe compatible, and built around real materials instead of printed imitations.
Fit and Protection, By the Numbers
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a big phone, and most protective cases make it bigger. Ours is designed to add as little as possible while still doing its job:
| Spec | Measurement |
|---|---|
| iPhone 17 Pro Max weight (bare) | 233 grams (8.22 oz), with a 6.9-inch display |
| Case weight | 30 to 40 grams (1.06 to 1.41 oz), depending on design and materials |
| Phone plus case | 263 to 273 grams (9.3 to 9.6 oz) |
| Thickness added to the back | 2.44 mm (0.096 in) |
| Camera surround lip | Sits 1.07 mm (0.044 in) proud of the lenses |
The camera surround raises the case above the iPhone 17 Pro Max camera plateau, so the lenses never touch the table when the phone is face up. Raised bezels around the screen do the same job face down, and the flexible TPU shell absorbs impact at the corners where drops actually land.
The Action button, volume buttons, and side button all get responsive TPU covers, so every press works through the case. The Camera Control is the one exception: it stays open through a precise cutout, because it is capacitive and responds best to direct touch. All ports stay fully accessible.
MagSafe, Built In
Every iPhone 17 Pro Max case in this collection has MagSafe compatible magnets integrated directly into the shell. Your case snaps onto MagSafe chargers and holds MagSafe accessories without removing it, and standard wireless charging works through the case as well.
Materials We Work With
Our wooden iPhone 17 Pro Max cases use species like wenge, walnut, cherry, maple, sapele, and padauk. Some designs combine multiple species with laser-cut inlays and engraved metalized acrylic accents in gold or silver. Our leather cases use vegetable-tanned Italian full-grain leather that develops a rich patina with use; the color deepens and the surface takes on a soft sheen that is unique to how you carry it. We also offer UV-printed designs on wood and cotton canvas for bolder, more graphic styles, genuine cork backers for a lighter natural texture, and our One & Only collection of pressure-cast wood and resin cases where each piece is truly one of a kind.

The Most Popular iPhone 17 Pro Max Designs at Our Workshop
Some designs have clearly become favorites among iPhone 17 Pro Max owners. Interestingly, Pro Max buyers lean harder into our bolder wood designs than any other model's buyers, while the leather colorways do their best numbers on the standard iPhone 17. If you are not sure where to start, these are the five we build most often for this model:
- Kodiak: a UV-printed bear scene on wenge wood.
- Kraken 2: an engraved kraken illustration in gold on dark wenge wood.
- Walnut Rift: a split-face design pairing genuine leather with walnut wood.
- Off-Road: a multi-wood inlay of padauk, cherry, maple, and walnut.
- Midnight: a deep, dark full-grain leather colorway.
Which iPhones Fit This Case?
The iPhone 17 Pro Max uses its own dedicated shell. These cases are built specifically for the iPhone 17 Pro Max and do not fit the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17, or any earlier model, so double-check your model before ordering.

How We Make Them
We have been handcrafting phone cases since 2012. Finished wood backers are laser-cut and assembled piece by piece, fitting together like a puzzle using a combination of our Trotec laser cutter and precision hand work. Our One & Only collection takes it further with pressure-cast wood and resin cases where each piece is truly one of a kind. Once your case is assembled, it gets a final cleaning and quality check before being shipped from our Mississauga workshop.
iPhone 17 Pro Max Case FAQ
Does this case work with MagSafe chargers and accessories?
Yes. MagSafe compatible magnets are integrated into every iPhone 17 Pro Max shell, so MagSafe chargers, wallets, and mounts attach directly to the case. Standard Qi wireless charging also works through the case.
How much bulk does the case add?
The case adds 2.44 mm (0.096 in) to the back of the phone and weighs 30 to 40 grams (1.06 to 1.41 oz) depending on the design, bringing the iPhone 17 Pro Max to 263 to 273 grams total. It is a slim-profile case: real protection for the corners, screen, and camera without the bulk of a rugged case.
Is the camera protected?
Yes. The camera surround sits 1.07 mm proud of the lenses, so the glass never contacts a flat surface, and raised bezels protect the screen when the phone is face down.
Is the wood real?
Yes. Every wood case uses genuine wood veneer: wenge, walnut, cherry, maple, sapele, or padauk, cut and assembled by hand. There are no printed wood-grain imitations anywhere in our catalog.
Will the case change over time?
The leather cases will, and that is the point: vegetable-tanned full-grain leather darkens and develops a patina with daily use. Wood cases hold their look; the finish protects the veneer through daily carry.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We ship across Canada and the United States from our workshop in Mississauga, Ontario, and most of our customers are in the US.
What if it does not work out?
Every case is backed by our 1-year warranty and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
