Handcrafted Leather Phone Cases from Keyway
We make every leather phone case by hand at our workshop in Mississauga, Ontario. Each one is built on a flexible TPU shell with a genuine full-grain leather backer that is laser cut, shaped, and finished by hand. No two cases age the same way, because every hide carries its own grain, its own colour, and its own character.

The Leather We Use
Every leather case in this collection uses Italian full-grain, vegetable-tanned hide. Both of those terms do real work, so it is worth being specific about what they mean.
Full-grain means the outermost layer of the hide, left intact. It has not been sanded down or embossed with an artificial grain to hide imperfections, which is what "genuine leather" or "corrected grain" usually signals on a spec sheet. You get the actual surface of the hide, including the small marks that came with it.
Vegetable-tanned refers to how the hide was preserved: with natural tannins drawn from tree bark, over weeks, rather than with chromium salts over a day or two. Veg-tanned leather is firmer, smells like leather rather than chemicals, and, most importantly, it keeps reacting to light, oil, and handling long after it leaves the tannery. That reaction is the patina.
The leather is split down to the exact thickness needed to sit flush inside the recessed pocket on the case back, then laser cut to the precise perimeter for each phone model.
How the Leather Ages, Honestly
This is the part worth reading before you buy, because it is the single most common thing people are surprised by.
Your case will not look the way it looks in the photos six months from now. Vegetable-tanned full-grain leather darkens with use. It picks up oil from your hands, light from your pocket coming in and out, and marks from whatever it rubs against. Lighter colours change the most: Natural starts pale and can end up several shades deeper. Darker colours like Charcoal and Midnight shift more subtly.
It will also show scratches. Most settle in and blend into the surface over a few weeks. Some stay. That is normal for this kind of leather and it is not a defect.
If what you want is a case that looks identical on day 400 to day one, veg-tanned full-grain is the wrong material and we would rather tell you now. A chrome-tanned, corrected-grain leather with a protective topcoat holds its finish far better. What it will not do is develop any character. The hides come from Italy. Everything after that happens in Mississauga, Ontario: cutting, shaping, finishing, assembly, and the final quality check before your case ships.
That is not a small distinction in this category. Most leather phone cases sold in North America are manufactured overseas and finished nowhere, and it shows up in the fit and the material. We build ours a few kilometres from where they ship, which is also why we can offer colours in small runs and change something when it is not working.
Protection and Fit
Each case is built on a flexible TPU rubber shell that wraps the phone and absorbs impact at the corners, where drops actually land. The leather back sits flush in a recessed pocket rather than glued on top, and a raised lip around the front keeps the screen off the table when you set the phone face down.

Buttons are covered with responsive TPU, and all ports stay fully accessible. Cases are available for current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models.
The Colourways
Whiskey is a rich mid-brown and our most popular. Midnight is a deep navy, Charcoal a near-black grey, and Olive a muted, dusty green. Honey and Crimson sit at the brighter end, one warm amber and one true red. Slate is a soft grey-taupe, Plum a deep purple, and Natural is undyed: the palest option in the range and the one that changes the most as it ages.
Two designs sit slightly outside the plain colourways. Walnut Rift pairs leather with a walnut wood inlay in a split-face layout, and Sable is a multi-panel design that combines several leathers in different tones and textures on a single case.

Leather Phone Case FAQ
Is this real leather?
Yes. Italian full-grain, vegetable-tanned hide, which is the top layer of the skin with its natural surface intact. There is no bonded leather, no PU, and no embossed imitation grain anywhere in this collection.
Will the colour change over time?
Yes, and that is expected. Vegetable-tanned leather darkens and develops a patina as it absorbs oil and light through daily use. Pale colours like Natural change dramatically; dark colours like Charcoal change subtly. If you want a finish that stays put, this is not the right leather for you.
Does it work with MagSafe?
Cases for iPhone 13 and newer have MagSafe compatible magnets integrated into the shell, so chargers, wallets, and mounts attach directly to the case. Standard Qi wireless charging works through the case as well.

How do I look after it?
Very little is needed. Wipe it with a lightly damp cloth and dry it off. Do not submerge it or use cleaning products, and skip the leather conditioners: they accelerate darkening well beyond what daily use would do.
