Restore - Wood & Gold Phone Case

Kintsugi, also known as Kintsukuroi, is an old Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold, and it's from there we drew inspiration when crafting the Restore. This wood phone case features a Wenge backer, cut through with lines of gold metallic, as a reminder to embrace flaws and imperfections, and to consider them part of your story, too. 

The Restore is inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Rather than hiding the cracks, kintsugi treats them as part of the object's history, making the repair more beautiful than the original. We adapted that idea for wood: pieces of wenge are laser-cut with deliberate fracture lines, and the gaps are filled with inlays of gold acrylic. The result is a design that looks like it was broken apart and put back together with gold, which is exactly the point.

Wenge was a natural choice for this design. Its dark colour creates strong contrast with the gold acrylic veins running through it, and it has been one of our best-selling wood species for as long as we have been making cases. Each piece is laser-cut and assembled by hand, with the gold inlays pressed into position for a flush surface across the entire back of the case. Available for all current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, with MagSafe magnets and a soft microfibre interior lining on iPhone 13 and newer.

Our cases are created using hand finished wood veneer, laser cut inlays, and a Flexible TPU Rubber shell.
