Calavera - Wood & Gold Phone Case

Sugar skulls began as gifts made to be eaten, and over time became one of the central offerings of Day of the Dead. The Calavera pays homage to that Mexican tradition, a bright, ornate symbol of celebration meant to be carried all year round, not just at the start of November.

The skull sits on a dark wenge backer, with its grain running across the case behind the design. The skull itself is built from metallic acrylic: a gold face and silver flowers, both finely engraved with the swirling line work, petals, and patterned eyes that give a calavera its character. The contrast of warm gold and cool silver against the near-black wenge is what makes the whole thing pop. Because the backer is real wood, the grain behind the skull is a little different on every piece, so no two are quite the same.

Each Calavera is built by hand in our Mississauga workshop. The gold and silver acrylic pieces are engraved with all their fine detail before anything is assembled, then cut and fitted into the wenge like puzzle pieces and pressed flush to the case back. Available for all current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, with integrated MagSafe magnets and a soft microfiber interior lining on iPhone 13 and newer.
