Ontario Parks lists the Crescent Lake trail as a two kilometre loop. That was before the campground closed and the road grew over.

The campground had 46 sites, about two kilometres off Highway 17. The park's management plan describes moving group camping there from Agawa Bay and building out water and toilet facilities. Instead the campground closed and was gated.

The road in is now the first part of the walk, two grassed over tracks where cars used to drive. The main loop links four small lakes, Kenney, MacGregor, Mud and Crescent, with short carries between them. A hiker who measured the full route in 2025 came out at about five and a half kilometres, including the side branches down to the water.

The forest is older than the campground ever was. Ontario Parks puts the yellow birch at 80 years or more and some of the pines past a century.

How this one was made

Straightforward lake, fussy border. The white line running the perimeter had to be dammed off from the blue, and white is the colour that punishes any shortcut in prep: laser soot left in the engraved lines will lift into the pour and stain it a muddy yellow-brown. That meant a careful clean and a proper seal before we started. The lake outline itself was one of the easier ones we have poured.
