Enamel is a very hard material, and when paired with the steel body of this mug, they make a team that can stand up to quite a bit of punishment. These mugs have undergone an extremely high-heat firing process (850°C), which makes them suitable for any type of cooker, even an open flame on a campfire! (Please, no microwave use though, the steel body and all...)
