Kraken 2 - Wood & Gold Phone Case

Gold on dark is a classic, timeless look, so it's no wonder the Kraken remains one of our most popular pieces even after so many years. Featuring a finely-detailed engraved octopus crafted from a gold metallic inlay and Wenge backer, you can't go wrong with this wood phone case.

The Kraken design has been part of Keyway since nearly the beginning. The original version, the Prize Kraken, featured the full octopus centered on a silver background. For the Kraken 2, we cropped the design in half to show more of the intricate tentacle detail, and swapped the silver for gold acrylic to give it a richer, more dramatic look. Cutting the creature in half turned out to be the better move: it made the design more intriguing and let the fine line work of the engraving really stand out.

Each Kraken 2 starts with a piece of wenge wood that gets laser-cut to create the pocket for the gold acrylic inlay. The kraken itself is laser-engraved directly into the acrylic surface with fine detail that catches the light differently depending on the angle. The black wenge and gold acrylic combination gives the whole piece a feel that sits somewhere between rustic and refined. Available for all current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, with MagSafe magnets and a soft microfibre interior lining on iPhone 13 and newer.

Our cases are created using hand finished wood veneer, laser cut gold metallic inlays, and a Flexible TPU Rubber shell.
